Different is Great

Have I told you before that I am so into indie at the moment? Well if I haven't told you, now you know it. I don't know since when but I start to listen to indie music recently. I still listening to other kind of music but indie music rules my iPod at the moment. I think there are some reason why I am so into indie music right now. 

Students at my school, especially girls, are so into Korean music. They like boy bands, girl bands, and stuff. Almost all of my friend like Korean music. I like it too, but not as much as my friends. They really really like Korean music. Some of my friends even buy Korean music CDs from eBay, learn how to dance like Korean boy or girl bands, or buy posters of them. They talk about Korean stuff almost all the time. Well, not almost but they often talk about it.

Because of that reason, I want to be different. I like to listen to something that my friends barely know about them. I don't know why but I like it when I told my friend about some band and they don't have any clue who they are. I feel different, in a good way. But that is not the only reason why I start to listen to indie music. I think indie musicians have something that major label musicians don't have. I don't know what it is but I feel it when I hear it.

This is one of my favorite indie folk band at the moment. They are She & Him. Consisting actress Zooey Deschanel (vocals, keyboard) and musician M. Ward (guitar, production).

Being a ninth grader is the hardest part of my life. Maybe it's because of the busy schedule. Scientific projects, exams, school projects, bla bla bla. The only cure to my complicated and busy schedule is music. Music is the cure.

It's a single from his newest album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much. I love 'We Are Golden' music video too. It's so colorful and so MIKA! I can't wait for his new album to release!!

Music is the Cure

Gue lagi seneng banget sama musik-musik yang ber-genre dance dan electro pop. Contohnya, yang lagi gue suka sekarang itu David Guetta sama Little Boots. Sebenernya dulu gue gak terlalu suka sama musik-musik kayak gitu. I think music like that is not the real music. But now, I'm falling in love with that genre.

Gue jadi suka sama musik-musik kayak gitu sejak EF Disco di Oxford, England. Waktu itu gue lagi homestay. EF Disco itu acara yang dirancang sama EF buat semua anak-anak yang ikut program home stay ke England. Jadi yang home stay ke Oxford atau London pasti bakalan ada EF Disco. Pertamanya, gue sama temen-temen gue yang dari Indonesia gak mau ikutan acara ini. Personally, mungkin gara-gara kita gak biasa kali ya. Beberapa temen home stay gue ini sih udah pernah ngalamin acara yang kayak EF Disco ini. Jadi intinya, mereka udah pernah clubbing dsb gitu lah hehe. Tapi akhirnya gue sama temen-temen gue yang lain ya ayo ayo aja lah. Diajakin sama Renata juga sih (btw, Renata is our local guide). And actually, it's very fun!

Lagu yang pertama kali gue dengerin itu lagunya David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland yang 'When Love Takes Over'. Damn. Lagu nya enak banget, sejak saat itu gue seneng banget sama David Guetta. Tua tua tapi azeeq. Umurnya udah 40an loh hahaha. Kalau Little Boots sih dengernya di MTV. Pertama-tama gue gak suka sama lagunya yang 'New in Town'. Intro dan lain-lainnya kurang enak. Cuma reff nya aja yang enak hehe.

Believe it or not, David Guetta pertama kali mulai karir nya sebagai dj di gay club. Sekarang, dia udah punya istri yang juga seorang dj dan 2 orang anak :) GO DAVID!

Meet Kaiser Chiefs

OH MY GOD! Gue lagi tergila-gila dengan sebuah band indie dari England yang namanya Kaiser Chiefs. Familiar with a song called 'Ruby'? It's their song. Familiar with a song called 'Never Miss A Beat'? It's their song too. YA ALLAH, gue lagi tergila-gila dengan mereka nih!! Sebenernya waktu itu gue biasa aja sih sama mereka. Gue malah gak tau sama sekali sama mereka.

Sampai suatu hari gue nonton MTV atau [V] Channel gitu, terus ada music video mereka yang judulnya 'Good Days Bad Days'. Dan sejak saat itu, gue resmi jatuh cinta sama Kaiser Chief. Hati gue berbunga-bunga gitu kalau ngeliat mereka (Apaan deh haha). CD pertama mereka yang gue beli itu judulnya 'Yours truly, Angry Mob'. Itu album kedua mereka. Sampai sekarang, gue baru punya 2 album

 mereka. Yang 'Yours truly, Angry Mob' sama the latest CD from them, 'Off With Their Heads'. Tinggal satu lagi nih belom punya albumnya. Album mereka yang pertama 'Employment'. Waktu gue di Oxford, I bought their latest Album and I saw their first album too. But I didn't buy it. Sigh. Soalnya gue kira di Jakarta masih ada yang jual. Gue baru nanya satu toko musik sih wehehe :P Di Sincere PIM, stocknya udah kosong. Emang udah lama sih albumnya, jadi mau diapain lagi....

I love their music because their music is different. Unik dan gak gitu-gitu aja. Kan ada tuh satu penyanyi yang musiknya kayak gitu2 aja. Naaah, kalau Kaiser Chiefs ini tuh bervariasi. Setiap lagu pasti gayanya beda-beda. Makanya gue suka sama band-band indie. Well, gue cuma suka satu band indie doang sih, yaitu Kaiser Chiefs HAHAHA jujur gue gak tau band-band indie yang lain :P

I wonder why it last forever

Kenapa sampe jam segini gue belom ngantuk ya? Gue udah nyoba tidur tapi gak bisa tidur. Itu namanya Jet lag. Udah lama banget gue gak ngerasain jet lag. Terakhir gue pergi pake pesawat itu waktu gue kelas 7 ke Korea Selatan. Itu aja gue udah capek karena perjalanan 6 jam. Sekarang gue pergi ke Oxford via London selama 16 jam. 16 hours!!! Gimana kalau ke Amerika ya? Yang pasti gue bakal pergi sendirian lagi atau bareng kakak gue. Soalnya bokap nyokap gue udah males pergi jauh-jauh gitu dan mereka udah pernah, jadinya males :|

Inget Jet lag jadi inget satu lagu yang dari kecil udah pernah gue denger. Gue juga sempet nonton filmnya, Armageddon. Rada lupa-lupa gitu sih sama plotnya. Cuma (rasanya) gue udah pernah nonton deh hehehe. Gue ngerasa kalau lagu ini tuh gak ada matinya. Tetep aja enak didengerin walau pun udah dari tahun 90-an. Dan emang lyricnya bagus banget. Well, here we go..

Gue lagi suka banget sama Kaiser Chiefs. Lagunya enak. Lyricnya unik. Bagus dah! Gue baru punya satu album. Masih nyari dua album lainnya. Album yang paling baru cepet banget abisnya.. Syu, The Awakening Guitar Solo

Gue udah lama di kasih tau sama temen gue tentang Syu. Syu itu guitarist dan backing vocal dari band beraliran metal asal Jepang yang namanya Galneryus. Lebih lanjutnya liat di Galneryus Official Site. Pertama kali gue dikasih tau, gue di suruh nonton videonya dia di Youtube. Pertamanya sih gue rada kurang yakin sama band metal ini, soalnya gue lebih ke arah visual kei. Kalau gak tau visual kei itu apa, liat aja di wikipedia. Eh ternyata, pas gue liat guitar solonya Syu.
